ABOUT THE COURSE

The Mass Eye and Ear Vitrectomy Course for first-year retina fellows, beginning July 2026, in a traditional US-based fellowship, is a unique, comprehensive workshop that covers the theory and practice of vitreoretinal surgery. This 2-day course will be held in Boston, MA at The Boston Marriott Cambridge on Friday, July 10 and Mass Eye and Ear on Saturday, July 11. With space for up to 60 surgical vitreoretinal fellows and over 50 retina faculty, the course offers first-year retina fellows from across the U.S. an intensive and comprehensive introduction to vitreoretinal surgery, which is intended to ensure the best preparation for their fellowship. The course includes lectures on surgical pearls, hands-on wet lab exposure to the basics of retina surgery, case panels and case discussions, simulator practice, practice with clinic-based procedures, and small group career panel discussions.
